Welcome back!

So good to see you! Welcome to Belos, city of commoners, royalty, and the divine. Not far from the Mother’s Fold bridge, a mysterious construct from a lost age we can debate another time. First we must take you for a blessing at the Grand Basilica, home of the Church of the Mother and protector of the holy artifacts of Elle T’aibi, may her soul forever watch over us…

Yes, not far from here is the entrance to the Bazaar, a place where goods of debatable quality may be found or sold for a price. There you will find the food vendors, the weapon sellers, and whatever else your heart desires. Oh! But here we are at the doors!

(Kneeling, your benefactor gestures across his chest, stands again and leads you down the aisle of pews.) Some nearly 10,000 people come to pray each day here at the morning and evening masses. It is a great honor to be within these sacred walls. (He gestures to the ceiling…) Many simply come to sit and admire the symbols of our faith here. The Architect, Villam H’ashim, is said to have laid on the floor while the artists were finishing the inside of the dome.

At the peak of the dome is the representation of the Holy Mother in her ascension to the side of the Maker. Surrounding her are her disciples, the First Tier – St. Jost, St. Shea, St. Daniel, and St. Xa – who spread the word around the world. The entire history of our faith is there to be told to any and all who would accept our charge of peace and brotherhood.

(As you and your benefactor walk across the room to the altar, you see an armored woman in full plate tread steadily, but carefully, back to the doors you came through.) Ah yes. Lady Dagor of the Order of St. Greggor. Her order is among the youngest in the Church, but already she has quite a following. They are charged with dealing with the demons that plague our lands.

You have heard of the Changed? (He again kneels and gestures across his chest.) No? Well, these vile creatures are once again on the rise as we are on guard for the Nameless One to wind his way to the coast through our fair city. In his wake, we must all be alert for demons and those who would hide them from our sight. You should come to the sermon in two days – High Chancellor Devro himself will be speaking about the coming chaos and what we must do… You must come! Your very soul hangs in the balance!

(You and your benefactor approach the altar and he gestures for you to kneel.) Oh Most Holy Mother, we implore you to watch over this spirit as one of our own… This wayward soul has come to you for guidance and protection… And in return we shall all be your eyes and ears upon this world to protect our brothers and sisters across the land… Maker bless us all. Amen. (He gestures for you to rise.)

(He guides you back to the front of the Basilica.) It is good that you are here before the Evil comes. We must all be on watch for demons and demon-worshippers. Be vigilant and may the Mother and Maker watch over you in your quest…

(You are left outside the doors to the Grand Basilica to ponder your fate…)

Hi all…

Yes, Moebius Adventures has been on life support for a while. I acknowledge that. But now it’s time to tend the garden again.Moebius Adventures Core Rules Cover Mini Version

I’m starting a new series of articles about a world I’ve created and want to explore… The world of Immortals’ Wake.

This is and isn’t a traditional fantasy world. Yes, there’s swords and sorcery, but there’s a whole new type of magic to engage with… The Changed.

I won’t get into The Changed today, but suffice it to say they have a bit of a rough life. Think of witches in Salem getting caught and burned at the stake and you have some insight there.

So… Keep posted for these articles. I’ll also be posting more about the Moebius magic system for those of you who are interested.

Until next time…

Hey all…

Yes, it’s been a very long time since I’ve posted anything about Moebius Adventures here. My apologies.

Moebius Adventures is not dead, merely suspended until such time as I have time, energy, and resources to spend on the books again.

As such, I’m going to close the Forum for now. It’s just attracting spammers at this point and that’s not really helping anybody out. With the lack of actual traffic, I doubt it’ll annoy too many folks. :)

One final note, we did sell one e-book copy of the Core Rules book after all of those that were given away last Thanksgiving. Thank you to our lone customer and the hundreds of people who downloaded the book during the giveaway last year.

I hope that this isn’t the end of Moebius Adventures, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Thanks

Hi all…

As a one man shop, I’m starting to consider my options going forward. Though I think Covert Directives is probably a good bet that would sell better than the Core Rules book (more crunch there), I’m having a tough time keeping interest in it.

I’m sure Sean would understand if I switched to a different product I felt more passionately about, such as Immortals’ Wake. So I think I’m going to flip over and work on that as the next product. Completely blows my plan out of the water, but since I haven’t had much luck getting anybody to look at or review the book, I’m going to change gears and go back to a topic I love and can get engaged in again.

Hopefully this doesn’t disappoint anybody out there. But there’s only so much bandwidth I have and if I don’t feel passionate about CD, it’s not going to turn out well for me or anyone who wants to read it.

So let me know what you think. If you think this is a bad idea or not, I’d be interested in your opinion.

Thanks in advance!

Hi all…

Thought I’d post a link to this amazing list of resources over at Dungeon Mastering… The top 50 (or 52, but who’s counting) RPG websites.

It includes some of my favorites, including:

But it also includes many I hadn’t seen and will now be visiting frequently like:

Be sure to check it out!

Hi all…

I thought I’d post about some of the upcoming projects from Moebius Adventures in the next few months.

The big one is of course Covert Directives (CD). CD is the first world book and supplement to the Core Rules book for the Moebius Adventures Roleplaying Game. CD adds rules and setting for a modern and near-future world. Rules for firearms, bio- and genetic-engineering, vehicles, cybernetics, and so on. It’s a cool mix of James Bond meets the Bionic Woman.

We’re shooting for June 2008 for a release for Covert Directives, so keep an eye out for more information as we get closer.

Beyond that I hope to get out three small projects (50 pages or so) between now and the release of Covert Directives. These include:

  • Blue Steel – A cops and robbers application of the Core Rules book to show how modern weapons work, how to add modern backgrounds, and so on. It also will have an adventure that can be played from either side — from the side of the cops chasing the robbers or the robbers attempting to get the goods and run.
  • Touch of Magic – Adds magic and the fae to the world begun in the Core Rules along with a few new monsters to make things interesting.
  • Killer Moon – A futuristic/space-based addition to the Core Rules book that takes place on a lunar colony plagued with an alien discovered during an excavation. This will add robotics, some advanced weapons, and new alien species to keep things hopping.

So there are things on the horizon!

And as always, I’d love to hear what you think of the Core Rules book — good, bad, or indifferent. Nothing is set in stone. I’m still also working on a way to speed up and streamline character development for rapid play.

Hope you’re enjoying the run up to the end of the year!

Have a great day!

Hi all!

It came to my attention this week (on another blog of mine) that folks may not be leaving comments because they’re forced to log in first. Doh! I’ve now turned off that switch in WordPress. If anybody’s actually reading the blog, would you mind leaving me a comment so I know it’s working properly now?

Thanks in advance!

Hey all!

We’re starting to get some reviews for the Moebius Adventures Core Rules book. Some good comments, some bad. No game is designed for everybody, but we hope that the Moebius Adventures rules will offer folks another alternative to the other systems out there.

I’ve added a new category to the forums for reviews and will be posting them there as they arrive. So be sure to check it out!

Have a great day!

Hey all!

I just want to take a second to thank Zack Curvin and his folks at OneBookShelf for such an amazing promotion at RPGNow and DriveThruRPG… Courtesy of the ThanksGiveAway promotion (still going on for the rest of the week), more than 1000 copies of the Moebius Adventures Core Rules eBook were downloaded for free. Definitely an unbelievable response.

That coupled with the one Amazon sale of the paperback we had yesterday makes this publishing effort about 1000x more effective at getting the word out about Moebius Adventures games than we were back in 1997 when we sold a single copy of the Age of Phaedrus to a gentleman in England.

Anyone who would like to order a paperback copy of the book can do so via Lulu.com or Amazon. It looks great on my own shelf next to my myriad game books.

Again, I want to thank everybody for the great initial response. I hope the flow continues and folks come back to the Moebius Forums or send e-mail or post reviews on various sites — we want to hear what you have to say!

So thanks and let us know what you think!

Hi all…

So the great ThanksGiveAway is going gangbusters at RPGNow and DriveThruRPG today… The Moebius Adventures Core Rules book hit an amazing 200+ free downloads after a mere 3.5 hours of being available for download.

I’m hoping that the folks who grabbed the game will have a chance to review it and post their comments and suggestions on the Moebius Adventures forums and elsewhere on the web (RPG.net and GamingReport are both great candidates for posting reviews). We want to know what you think about the game — good, bad, or otherwise.

So have a great week and let us know what you think!

Thanks!
