Last Tuesday, May 19th, we released The Purple Lotus – A Lost Age Adventure. This is the latest in the series of adventures Moebius Adventures has been producing of late and the first for us from designer Vince Florio. I’m a bit biased, but I think it looks fantastic. If you get a chance, grab a copy and let us know what you think!! 🙂
The last time I did anything with an actual printed copy of a Moebius product was 2007 through Lulu. I’m very proud of the work I did with Moebius Adventures Core Rules. And though the book turned out great, it proved my skills with system design were not up to snuff (systems were Sean Bindel’s forte before he passed, not mine).
Prior to that, our first (and only) printed book was The Age of Phaedrus: The Heroes back in 1997. That book was shipped to one customer in the UK in a 3-ring binder containing a sheaf of paper I printed at home on an aging laser printer and 3-hole punched. (And before you ask, this book is not currently available anywhere though I’ve pondered releasing it or parts of it.)
And now we’re playing with a printed copy of The Purple Lotus.
Page-wise we’ve dropped considerably each time. Phaedrus was 364 pages. Core Rules was 142 pages. And Lotus is 16 (20 for the printed version if we account for some blank pages and other filler).
I could not be happier with the way the rebooted Moebius Adventures has progressed since I rebooted in 2012. I had 2 products in the list in 2007. Today I have 45. And there are many more on the horizon.
It’s been a long road. But with more than 5,000 downloads since 2007 and nearly 4,000 of those coming in the last couple of years I’m shocked with the response and hope I keep going for as long as I can.
Thank you for supporting Moebius Adventures and I look forward to sharing my exploration of the print proof when it shows up in a week or two!
