Immortals’ Wake: The Trial
What follows is a continuation of the first vignette of Immortals' Wake here. What would…
The following exchange was recorded in the Kingdom of the Open Waters, an undersea world populated by the Ichlyd peoples.
Letter from Wheurr, Chief Advisor to Queen Anqua of the Open Waters:
For nearly a century we have attempted to find out what happened to the Taiqa clan following the devastating events of the Cataclysm. As our outpost farthest from the Center of the Open Waters, it was cut off from the Tethys by a massive eruption of earth. Eye-witness accounts of the calamity vary widely and offer little to go on, as most were far enough away from the eruption itself to survive. But from what we can discern, there is little hope that our people could endure such a massive continental shift.
We would ask for help from the surface, but since the Cataclysm we have seen increased aggression on land and do not wish to risk potential clashes when we reemerge.
I must advise that we end our search for survivors at this time and deal with more pressing matters with our people.
Advisor Wheurr of the Nys Clan
Response sent from the Queen back to Wheurr:
As always, I thank you for your insight, experience, and candor. But I cannot give up hope. Without firm evidence that they did not survive, it is possible they have remained among the living and found a way following the Cataclysm. Please ask our priests to petition the gods Oorn and Othuum for their guidance. Perhaps they can send some form of help from beyond.
Queen Isr Anqua of the Open Waters, Deep Lady of the Dulo Clan
What does this mean for the PCs? Only time will tell…
