Wow. 2014. And we’re already a month in… where does time go?! But it’s time for the first monthly report of the year for Moebius Adventures.
In one way, this was a fantastic month and the best on record so far for Moebius. But in another, we fell off steeply. So let’s dive into a few numbers.
First, the high. Web traffic!
For one very specific reason, January 2014 had the best traffic I’ve ever had coming and going from the website. With the erratic help of StumbleUpon (read more on SU’s strange behavior here), we went from an average of about 1000 page views and 825 unique visits over the last quarter of 2013 to more than three times those numbers in the month of January. We saw nearly 3400 page views and 2400 unique visits, which by itself is more than all the visitors we had in the last quarter combined.
Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Well, as someone recently pointed out – more traffic is good! So I guess I can’t complain.
Second, the low. Sales.
Sales dropped off precipitously this month. (Here’s my report from December 2013.) Some of that is due to the fact that I have only released one product (LPC Fantasy Names I) during the month and really didn’t do much marketing. And some of it is due to the fact that after the holidays I suspect there’s a steep drop-off for most industries. People blew their money on gifts or trips and are now paying that off or saving back up. I know that’s the case for us.
So far this year:
- LPC Fantasy Names I – 3 sold
- Little Spaces: Ghostly Effects – 1 sold
- Little Spaces: Scary Basements – 1 sold
- Moebius Adventures Core Rules Sample Adventure – 7 downloads
- Moebius Adventures Core Rules – 4 downloads
Starting in mid-February, Moebius Adventures products will be available at not just RPGNow/DTRPG but also Paizo and the d20pfsrd store! I’m hopeful that by opening up into two other markets, that may offer some additional sales potential. We shall see.
I’m not worried. As I said last year, I’m still having fun coming up with product ideas and may even have some help in the next few months, so I’m excited.
Let’s see what February 2014 has in store for us!
